All of my in box email, and I mean everything from read to unread has just vanished. Its not gone into the deleted box or draft mail, the deleted mail is still there as too is sent email OK.
I didn't press any combination of keys, the mail just vanished
Some of the stuff was important, things I should have backed up or printed off but didn't.
I'm running a virus scan right now but so far nothing has been found
Does anyone have any ideas how this could have happened?

DId you try reloading- this happened to me a few weeks ago with Yahoo, vanished just as you described, but when I went back it was in my inbox again, phew!0

I closed the pc down and re-booted it, have re opened email and pressed send-receive a few times to no avail.
Thanks for your suggestion0 -
It doesn't appear to be a one off problem as a moment ago I received email and it too has gone so sent myself a test email and it appeared in the inbox for a moment and its now gone, as before vanished, hasn't gone to any other email box0

Exactly what email client are you using if a Microsoft product have a look at the view settings it may be that you have inadvertently set to unread messages in this folder0

this won't help you now but I have my email set up to automatically send to a recovery email account. I would be lost without my emails as well.weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0

Hi
I'm using Windows mail on Vista.
I have brought up Local Folders and the column to the right of the page says I have 93 emails in Box above this there looks like a drop down menu that says Hide Read Messages but this wont change when I click on it. Have searched the search email box and my missing email is there.
Cant find how to put the setting back to normal though. Have gone into tools but cannot see anything that would reset it?
At least I have the emails I need and will back them up right now.
Thanks0 -
I have managed to find the missing email although the PC still isnt running the way it was, its still shifting incoming email into a sub folder.globetraveller wrote: »this won't help you now but I have my email set up to automatically send to a recovery email account. I will set up a recovery account as you have done, is this quite simple to do.

Panic Over
The drop down box which seemed to be stuck at Hide Read Mail has now allowed me to change it to Show All Messages.
Oddly all of the unread messages were hidden. but marked as read? I have gone into Tools and un-ticked the box that says Mark Message Read after displaying for 5 seconds.
If anything I have learned that its important to back up important documents, no excuse for me not doing this as I have an external hard drive (un-used never out of the box) but will be backing up today!
Thanks Guys0 -
I use gmail. I set up another gmail account and then added a filter which automatically forwards all my email to the new accountI have managed to find the missing email although the PC still isnt running the way it was, its still shifting incoming email into a sub folder.
