British Gas Cold Calls

A warning to anyone who receives unsolicited phone calls from British Gas.As a former customer I was contacted and offered a "special deal" with cashback and other promises. The call lasted over 50 mins.As I was looking to change my supplier I was talked into changing over the phone(weak moment).I was assured the details would be sent out by post and there would be a cooling off period.
After a week I did get the infomation which was not what was offered over the phone.
To British Gas customer sevices credit (totally different attitude from the sales call) they were very helpful and cancelled the application under the cooling off period and sent a text message to confirm.
Narrow escape.

Even if it was a genuine deal, the deal you will get from a cold call, whether by phone or at the door, iis never as good as the ones you can get online via a cashback site. If you do the former, you are simply giving away all the commission to the cold caller.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

They called you and you listened to them for 50 minutes?

    It wouldn't have been me.

I once had someone from Miami phone me about a free holiday so I listened for about a minute then just hung up whilst she was talking. She called back and said the call had been intterupted and I said had it, then hung up again.
    She never called back.
  • next time just put the phone down!
