Sorry I can't help but I would like to share the advice on here if you don't mind:)

I'm lookng for something that I'll use almost completely for liquidising soup, any other function would be a bonus. Priorities are small (I want to be able to put it away in a cupboard not have it out permanaently) and easy to clean, preferably in dishwasher. I know if it doesn't fit these priorities I'll stick to my potato masher! TIA

I second the advice for a stick blender. Something like this would be good as it has a whisk attachment in case you want to bake or beat cream/egg whites etc, and a mini chopper which is great for doing things like chocolate, nuts, large amounts of garlic etc.

I'd look at a stick blender. Relatively small, can use it directly in the saucepan so less washing up. Some also come with attachments (whisk, mini food processor, etc) so can be pretty versatile.

Thank you so much, that looks just what I need. Will take myself to Argos PDQ!
