Letting agent misrepresented flat; can I reclaim my deposit/fee?

Why would they?
They work for the landlord and if I, as a landlord, heard my agent spew ou the following:
'I'm sorry but I have to say that the neighbour is a drunk who has a tendancy to punch the interconnecting walls at 3am and created a makeshift nightclub every friday evening'
then they'd never rent the flat!0 -

i agree there's no smoke without fire but it's quite usual for tenants to be critical of the property as they leave.
It's just human nature - people love to show how 'in the know' they are, that they've got secret inner knowledge and sharing makes them feel important - especially if it's something bad as it adds to the drama.0 -
If she rants and screams all day and plays very loud music perhaps park outside for a while. Speak with other neighbours about moving into the area or whatever and ask about noise issues. Friday / Saturday evenings are a good time to see / hear anti-social behaviour.0
