Switch over bath shower for cubicle

Hi

We are int he process of having an over bath shower put in by a friend, however I want a shower instead. We live in a one bed city flat and the only bathroom in the property is an en suite off the bedroom and its tiny. The bath takes up 70% of the room. However to have a shower cubicle it would need to be a 700x700 size which is pretty compact....

Anyone done this for better or worse? Any idea of costs? The shower is now ont he wall and plu,bed in and the pipes boxed in so hoping the main plumbing is done but no idea what else may be required plumbing wise. Also there are lot of pipes under the bath that lead to downstairs so we would need to put the shower on a step?

We've got a 700 x 700 cubicle and yes, it is compact, but we are both quite slim (I am 8 stone and my partner is 10.5 stone) so it is fine for us. I think it might be a bit small for anyone who is much broader than us.

Sounds like a reasonalbe idea in your situation however if you are thinking of moving any time soon please give some additional thought to the project. Swapping a bath with shower for a compact shower cubicle would (I imagine) put quite a few people off.

Cant say on price, best to get three quotes as prices vary on area etc..

Good luck, hope iot goes well.

    Thanks

We are both pretty slim. I measured today and I reckon a 760mm square would fit fine. We have only just bought it so don't plan to move for a fair few years yet. But also don't want to consider changing it only to have a bath fitted again to sell. Apparently you have to list as a one bed with shower room not bathroom which seems annoying as that in itself could put people off. Oh dear. It does seem that if we lived there as a forever home the bath would be out quick smart but in terms of a first home with plans to resell, maybe we should live with the not so nice bathroom

If you have room for a bath, even if it's a bit of a squeeze, surely you have room for a bigger shower?

Well the bath is 70cm wide and the shower is on the wall above it. next to it is the loo so no room for anything wider...if we could find a rectangle one that is long and thin then maybe it could be 70 wide but 100 long etc

What about this, then you could still call it a bathroom:
