Hi all,
What is the cheapest way to text from the UK to a French mobile? I've checked the articles on this website, and I'm sure there used to be a recommendation to use an app that texts over the internet - however I can't find that article any longer.
My last phone bill came to £50+ (normally £10!), any recommendations?
Thanks,
Jay

Were you thinking of fishtext.com?
Their website says 4.6p per text to France.0 -
It would help if you stated what phone u have cause theirs different apps for android, iPhone etc so naming your device manufacturer, might be helpful in order to get good advice.0

Fishtext is actually 4.67p! Amazing that Fishtext to France is as much as 3 or 4 times or more what Fishtext can charge to say Belgium or Netherlands or Scandinavia (some networks amongst those countries are as cheap as 1p per text).
I think Vyke costs about the same as Fishtext to France, but if you have a fairly recent Nokia you may find Vyke offer a much more seamless application that can be made to almost imperceptibly take over the Nokia SMS client. The downside problem with that might occur if you also text regularly to other e.g. UK numbers and you forget to turn it off

Vyke is the cheapest option for me on voip and recently launched an iPhone app. Their text rates are 6p worldwide and I call the Netherlands, for 7 eurocents per whole hour. This is much better than skype for sure. They also usually give 10-12% free when you top up using vouchers posted on their facebook page. Only thing lacking is video calling, but I use then on the go anyway so not a deal-breaker for me.0
