My DD is nearly 12 and I actually took her shopping after work tonight to get some bits and pieces - couple of secret santas for school, pressie for Nanny and Grandad (which all goes together anyway), card for Daddy. I paid for them because I don't believe in giving pocket money. She was just as excited and wrapped everything when she got home.

I never had pocket money growing up, but as soon as i started working i would buy my parents presents
  • I remember from quite young age about 6, my dad giving me and my older brother money to go get my mum presents for xmas birthdays etc.
Then when i was bit older i wanted to use my pocket money to buy presents for people.
My younger brother who is nineteen still expects my mum or dad to give him money for buying presents. E.g it was my mums birthday a week ago, i had to bail him out to give him some money for a card... was mostly to stop my mum being upset that he had not bothered.

My girls are both nagging for there dad to give them money they both chose me ace presents and there not even five yet:)

my kids get pocket money and they club together and buy me and their dad and each other xmas & birthday pressies. Usually get me to order them though as I usually get them cheaper with help from this site. I also think they get fed up listening to me saying I could have got that cheaper.
