Its for health and safety reasons. What happens if you sell and then the something happens to the new owners. Sure nothing is safe in the data protection act. Companies steal information anyway.0

there's an excellent 'moan' about the new part p legislation on this website:

also some useful articles about diy:

i am finding this sort of legislation very irritating.
i heard that there is new legislation on the horizon which would mean that all bath hot taps on new houses will have thermostatically controlled valves because people are too stupid not to scald themselves. and don't get me started on the new working at height legislation.0 -
I am looking for a job where there is no legislation involved and you can just do a normal days work. If anyone finds 1 please let me know.0

Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others.
I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.
It's a recession when your neighbour loses his job; it's a depression when you lose yours.0 -
i'm not debating that it would be safer but i believe those sort of measures should be a matter of choice and that not all the responsibility for safety should be removed from the public - it just makes people more stupid and forces them to find ways around it - so when their mixed bath water is not hot enough they'll be boiling kettles to fill the bath and when they're not allowed to make changes to their ring main they will overload adapters. there are so many simpler more effective ways of making the home safer e.g making rcds mandatory.
besides, if i'm not going to be allowed to run water at 65 degrees into my bath then how come i'm still allowed to drive a car, stand on a railway platform, swim in the sea, cross the road, stand on 2nd floor balcony, buy 24 nurofen, go skiing etc etc?0 -
It's going to get worse too - apparently the home information packs, which have caused so many problems already are going to be passed on to the Valuation Office, so they know who's added a conservatory, improved their garden, etc (stuff that you wouldn't actually need PP for), so they can whack up the council tax for the poor soul who buys the house!0
