Argos are currently running press ads for the Canon Ixus 105 (£99.99) saying its 12x Zoom ITS ONLY 3X ZOOM, Yes obviuosly most people will realise they mean Digital Zoom, but some wont.

It's up to the buyer to ensure what they're buying is it not? I've seen hundreds of cameras advertised this way, and have sold quite a few to people who don't understand the difference between the two at all, until it's explained.0

On the Argos website it shows 12mp, 4x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom. Maybe the advert is 12mp, which is probably correct. Plus Lirin is correct. If you're going to purchase an expensive electronic piece of equipment then you should research into what you're getting to make sure it's the right thing for you. Also agreed that Argos should not misrepresent the product, so if they are purposefully deceiving customers and lying about what the product does then that is unacceptable. I wouldn't expect Argos to do this but you never know...0

No, its states 12XZoom, and the one next to it (A490) is correctly advertised as 3x Zoom.0

There are far more serious misrepresentations made by some high street retailers (not sure if Argos are/were guilty)....
Reasonably recently some netbooks had high capacity batteries as standard with consequent good online and magazine reviews. The high street sellers were selling models with non-standard lower capacity batteries. You'd need to check the specs very carefully to spot that subterfuge.
To my mind high street retailing of electricals and tech gear really has had its day - much better deals can almost always be found online.0 -
If we all posted online errors we would literally not have time/room for anything else:idea:0
