were you doing any driver updates which could have become corrupted? Tried inserting the 2000 pro disk to try and repair the fault? Generally goes into safe mode when it reboots after a crash or pressing F8 during start up.
What happens when you try to reboot into normal mode?

    From M$
Directory Service Restore Mode: This mode is valid only for Windows domain controllers. It performs a directory service repair.
This means your machine is set up as a server - is this correct?
  • no wasnt doing any updateS, i will try the disk to see if that helps, when rebooting in normal mode it loads up very slowly and no icons are recognised and whatever i click on just comes up with an error something about DLL.

No its not setup as a server

    thanks
