They are really good but buying books is still quite expensive.

Expect the prices will drop in time. I'll continue to buy my paperbacks at the local charity shop but think I will treat sister. Thanks for your advice.

How is finding your library card, getting in to your car, driving down to the library, finding a space, getting in to the library, finding the correct aisle, searching for your book, not seeing it on the shelf, asking someone on reception to point in right direction, finally receiving the book, going to check it out, realise you've left card in your car, retreiving card, getting your book, driving home, start reading book and realise some pages are missing, give up, put book on shelf, realise a week later its overdue, rush to find book, shoot over to the library, hand book back plus fine, easier than downloading to a kindle?

    1) I don't have to pay to take books out of the library
    2) My library is about 30 yards from my front door

good for you, but I doubt everyone lives 30 yards from a library.

I've always had the idea that a library won't have the latest releases and only have very few copies of books meaning you have to go on a waiting list to get them, which keeps me away - is that right?

Also, most mornings I don't have space on mytrain in to work to be able to hold a book and turn the pages, so I read using the Kindle software on my iphone, then use the kindle at home (which syncs to the last place read on the phone) as the screen is easier to read for longer periods.

I have the Kindle and love it.. The ebooks are expensive, just a question of looking round for a price. I'd also recommend buying (or your sister) a reading light for the Kindle.

I still buy books as the Kindle isn't good for pictures etc i.e. travel book for instance.

The following is good for converting books formats.http://calibre-ebook.com/

I agree with you & we use our library all the time. Wonderful being able to reserve books online. I have no desire for a kindle but know my sister would love one.

I'm going to buy one of these, the youngest Toonie and I travel on location shoots (for her) quite a great deal, it will add to the entertainment options, and will be light to carry!
