Help! Think we've been scammed :(

Hubby bought a phone on ebay yesterday, paid via Paypal and has just had this message

We removed this item from the Site and cancelled your bid because it appears that the seller's account has been compromised and used by an unauthorized third party. The seller's privileges to trade on eBay may be temporarily suspended while we investigate this matter further. Due to privacy concerns we will not be able to share further details related to this seller.

Is that it? Have we lost sixty quid?

The only similar thing that happened to me was that an account was cancelled after I'd paid for an item. I did receive it soon after.

No mention of investigations then though

Check your paypal account, under e-bay and paypal rules you shouldn't lose out. That said never had to try it out but hopefully it will work for you. If it hasn't been refunded automatically register with their grievance procedure

Start a chargeback straightaway you should be OK.

I've just done an item not received dispute is that right? Do I escalate it straight away?

Awwww, Jay Jay I hope ya get your money back. I'm pants with knowing about ebay rules & regs but I'm sure you'll get lots of helpful advice from the clever people on here though.

I would escalate it straight away, if the seller contacts you getting shirty about the dispute, forward them the email from ebay explaining why you took that action. I would try and pull contact detls,though not sure if it will let you know though and give them a ring - have they made any contact with you at all since the auction ended? keep us updated and keeping fingers crossed for you. x

So he's had his account hijacked, someone set up a dodgy paypal account and sold some mobile phones, pocketed the money and he gets his account back..... :think:

Yeah, he has a shop. He's saying that his account was hijacked but he has it back
