My colleague who gets a bus to work every day has bought a pair of Yaktrax and they are brilliant. She can walk on even the iciest pavements without any insecurity at all.

Just had to dish out the ones I had bought me mum and dad for Christmas. They have to go out a few times this week to hospital and various HC appointments and car parks are usually treacherous

I fell whilst out last night in the snow and ice:(

Mind you I was half tanked in Jack Daniels at the time too:rotfl:

Claim form winging its way to Lynchville, USA as we speak, no where on the bottle does it say JD impairs the act of standing up:rotfl:

I love failing when drunk, you feel nothing, then wake up with all these unaccountable bruises:o
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:

Whilst I can understand that accidents do happpen it is laughable to see people on the news complaining abount ungritted footpaths, and when the shot pans out you can see they're wearing trainers or "fashion" shoes. These are the people you see coughing and sneezing in queues with jeans soaked up to their knees because its's fashionable to wear them long enough to sweep the footpaths whilst they walk.

    It's natural selectiion in action.

See, if only I'd been fully drunk when I fell (not due to ice but steps), I've shattered my kneecap, been off work for 4 months, need another operation in February and won't be allowed back to work until after it. But it was MY fault!

  • I fell in the middle of a busy street on the way to work last week. I knew it was slippy, so the only thing I could do was to get up and move away as quickly as the footpath allowed (which wasn't very fast!) to save further embarrassment!

Is there anyone you can complain to about falling on ice on pavements/road?

Not currently, but the Council are setting up a hot line number for people to ring when they fall on ice, or perhap they get splashed on a puddle. Its going to cost around £1 million of tax payers money, but i think its well worth it.

But i guess in the meantime my advice would be to stay indoors wrap yourself in cotton wool and bear in mind the old adage - "S HIT HAPPENS"

Nope, I just have them myself after the last cold spell earlier in the year as the roads here were solid ice for three weeks and more

I used them this week walking the dog and not even him pulling me had me slipping
