I am asking this on behalf of my Mum who is unable to launch Internet Explorer 9 times out of 10. She is definetly connected to the internet as I am able to chat to her using gmail. She has never had a problem with this before so why now? She has scanned her computer for viruses and this hasnt shown anything up.
Someone has suggested mal-ware could be the problem, so on the VERY rare occasion when she has managed to launch internet explorer, she has run programs to rid the laptop of malware but none of them have worked.
Can anyone shed any advice on this please??

It sounds like malware to me - I seen several computers where you couldn't start IE / Windows Explorer & once the malware removal programs had run it worked
You could stick a copy of Firefox on the machine & check that you are following the instructions about removing malware in the sticky at the top of the page.0 -
Thanks for your suggestions, will give it a try.0

you could also try https://www.ccleaner.com.
Has she been to https://www.windowsupdate.com recently?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Im also having trouble with ie6 locking up, and the irritating thing is you can't uninstall it then reinstall it.
Maybe the solution for your Mum is thats its a mouse pointer speed issue. If you go to mouse in control panel and adjust the speed of the click that will open a program. Some people especially ones who dont use the computer on a daily basis cant get the hang of the the right speed to click the mouse, well hard to if its not set right in the control panel. Give it a try.
