Had a letter from a DCA

I am working hard to become debt free and have managed to clear about half of my debt within the past 1-2 years, however, I received a letter about a week ago from a company called 'Fredrickson International Limited' saying they were trying to trace someone. I didn't bother replying because I knew it'd be a debt (not that I'm trying to hide from them, I just don't agree with the way they send out innocent looking letters claiming to have 'personal matters to discuss' when that's a lie.
Anyway, on Friday, I received a second letter from them but this time saying I owe their client 'Arrow Global Guernsey Limited' an amount of money and despite previous repeated requests for payment, the balance remains outstanding and their client now requires payment in full.
I've never heard of this Debt Collection Company and have never heard of Arrow Global Guernsey Limited but a quick google shows that they are a company that buys debt. And some people seem to report that even after courts dismiss the debt, this company still try to pursue the debt.
What is the best way to proceed with this?
Any advice whatsoever would be really helpful.

So they haven’t given you any details at all that tells you who the debt was originally owed to?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

First thing to do is make sure any communication is kept in writing, don't give them your phone number. I'm not trying to tell you to hide from it but I think worrying about the postman is bad enough let alone worrying every time the phone rings.
Next thing is to find out who they are working for. Who was the debt originally with ? They have to tell you this, can't help you anymore than that until you know if the debt is your or not. If it is your then we'd need to know how much and then start the whole budget form thing with them that keeps them at bay a while. I would go to National Debtline, they're brill, they'll send you out a template letter for every stage of the process with the debt collectors and tell you the best way to handle this.
Hope this was helpful in some way

Thanks. The letter says nothing about who the debt was originally with, infact it says I have had previous requests for payment from them but I've had nothing of the sort.
Does anyone have a sample letter I could send them asking for details of the debt but without claiming the debt as mine?0 -

Dear Sir/Madam
Ref: xxxxxxxxxxx
You have contacted us regarding the account with the above reference number, which you claim is owed by ourselves.
We would point out that we have no knowledge of any such debt being owed to The Loan Company.
We are familiar with the ‘Office of Fair Trading Debt Collection Guidance’ which states that it is unfair to send demands for payment to an individual when it is uncertain that they are the debtor in question.
We would also point out that the OFT say under the Guidance that it is unfair to pursue third parties for payment when they are not liable. In not ceasing collection activity whilst investigating a reasonably queried or disputed debt you are using deceptive/and or unfair methods.
Furthermore, ignoring and/or disregarding claims that debts have been settled or are disputed and continuing to make unjustified demands for payment amounts to physical/psychological harassment.
We would ask that no further contact be made concerning the above accounts unless you can provide evidence as to our liability for the debt in question.
We await your written confirmation that this matter is now closed. Otherwise we will have no option but to make a complaint to the trading standards department and consider informing the OFT of your actions.
We look forward to your reply.
Yours faithfully

I have had the same letters, the second one has been delivered today, I am sure I don't owe any money so have no idea where they could be getting this from, will send the "prove it letter" tomorrow to both addresses given and keep tabs on here for progress.
good luck

Hi louise0151, I think you must have had the same lettter as me. Was it from Fredrickson International Ltd. and demanding £159. 25 if so, how can I send you a copy?0

The same is happening to me, first letter dated 23 Nov, second one 30 Nov but only arrived today. I've prepared the 'prove it' letter, would you recommend that I get proof of postage?0
-
Wow, it seems like they're hounding loads of people (just before christmas too). Is everyone else in the same position (i.e. having never heard of Fredrickson's 'Client')? I'll be posting my 'prove it' letter tomorrow.0

Hi, I didn't have proof of posting I just printed a copy for myself and then wrote to Trading Standards Dept. giving them all the details and I am waiting for a reply from them, but it's early days yet.:T0
