I have this policy and my boiler has started leaking causing water to come through the wall. I called them yesterday afternoon, they offered me an engineer on Tuesday! I explained that I would consider no heating and water coming through the wall as an emergency, she said she'd get someone from another team to call back within 3 hours. Nothing. I left it over 24 hours, they'd tried calling apparently but had taken the wrong number yet still not tried the other number on file.
They again said they wouldn't come out til Tuesday and I was lucky as it should be Thursday, they are treating me as an emergency.
I asked if I turned the boiler back on and water started gushing everywhere would that be treated differently - apparently not.
Is my cover worng, am I being unreasonable? Any help/advice or complaint info would be great.
thanks

you are discovering why breakdown insurance is generally a waste of money.Get some gorm.0

I used to work in the insurance industry.
I only buy insurance cover where it would be the potential cost of the loss is uneconomic (house insurance) and where it is a legal requirement (car insurance).
As for the rest, save your cash and pay out a lump sum when/if needed. You'll be quids in.0 -
Better still, pay an amount into a savings account specifically for home emergencies and accrue interest for yourself rather than a huge corporation.0

I totally agree with that. I wouldn't touch boiler cover and that sort of insurance.0 -
Well, they came out yesterday. Supposedly fixed it, guess what it's leaking worse than ever, and my wall is completely ruined. They won't come out tonight. Just had to call an emergency plumber out but he could only stem the leak, said he would need to take the boiler apart, and didn't want to do that in case nPower wouldn't pay me back.
nPower are supposed to be phoning me in the morning to see if they can get an engineer out tomorrow.
Can I claim for the damage to my wall?0 -
No phone call, so I rang them, they can come out Saturday. I was specifically told today and have not gone into work today on that basis (and got in trouble for it)
Can anyone help out with next steps with them please?0 -
Cancel your wasteful service contract and find a local recommended GSR RGI who will do the job properly and more economically. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
