Currys Interest Free

Be aware that current Currys 6 months interest free on laptops over £300 is not 'FREE'! While you only incur interest of 24.9% APR if you choose to pay for the product in instalments over a 36 months, if you choose to settle within 6 months (before instalments are debited), there is an admin fee of £25. This was not mentioned when I purchased my laptop. As a result of complaining, Curry's have agreed to cancel the credit agreement & I am going to pay the balance in full. However, this means another trip to the store to sort everything out!!

I had this with a TV I bought off dabs.com in 2007. Same thing 0% over 12 months IIRC, but there was a £30 IIRC fee, so it wasn't totally interest free. I do remember though the fee was set out in front of me on the screen before I went ahead.
If bought online or in person then definately Currys should inform the customer.
As far the deal no longer being worth it, I suppose it depends on whether the customer thinks it is worth paying £25 for the convenience of paying for it 6 months later.
If a customer can't afford to pay for it now, but can afford to pay £325 over 6 months, then it's still a good deal, as the interest is minimal really.
TBH, if paying basically £1 a week over 24 weeks is a deal breaker than the customer can afford to pay for it in the first place.0 -

You're getting confused between the Buy Now Pay Later, and the Interest Free.
BNPL has a 10% deposit, then pay the balance plus £25 admin fee within 6 months, or it's 36 months @ 24.9%
Interest Free is 10% deposit, then the remaining 90% over 6 months, no interest, no admin fee.
Your agreement seems to be a BNPL, not the interest free. So someone put you on the wrong one.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
