I decided to set up file and printer sharing with a Netgear DG834G Wireless router attached my main PC(Via ethernet cable)and a Belkin USB adapter on a PC upstairs. Both PCs are running Windows XP Home Edition. Both are set to the same workgroup but when I try to add a network location(folder from my main PC) to my upstairs PC it shows that my PC is not on it's network, I can access folders on the upstairs PC from my main PC but not the other way round and also when I try to set new folders so that they are sharing I get an error message that says "An error occured while trying to share, The server service is not started. Can someone please help with these problems.

To resolve this particular error:phoenix935 wrote:when I try to set new folders so that they are sharing I get an error message that says "An error occured while trying to share, The server service is not started.
On both computers, click Start - Run - type services.msc and click OK. Find the Server service and double-click it. Set its startup type to Automatic. Then click Start, then OK.

Make sure you've encrypted it, otherwise you'll also be sharing your files with the neighbours...
