rent ending before house sale completion

I'm in a bit of a pickle. Good news, the estate agent i'm buying this house through has told me the vendors can exchange this friday.

Bad news.. the people next up the chain can't complete until end of November. I've always told them I need to complete before Nov 17th because my rent is up, and the landlord will have found a new person for my flatshare.

They can't give a confirmed completion date yet and i don't know what to do. I might be able to move into an empty room in my current house for a few weeks, but i'd need to give set dates. My gf's family has offered to put me up for a few weeks, but I can't get to work from their house easily (would need 45min - hour coach ride plus tube).

So.. any good ways to move a completion earlier?

  • Can't see what you can do if the ones up the chain can't complete until end of Nov. You're all stuck. At least if you exchange you'll have a date set for completion. Maybe you could sleep in a friends spare room, on their sofa/ironing board/patio somewhere nearer to work?

ask if they are prepared to pay your rent for a set period , very unlikely as they seem to have indicated all along that end of Nov is the timescale they are working to.
At least on exchange you will have date for L/Comp
my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!
  • Ok, panic over. Decided to stay with gf's family and get the taxi to the local train station. Since i won't be paying rent, i'll be saving for 2 weeks even with the extra travel costs.

    Can't wait to exchange!
