I have a stray ginger cat who lives outside in my stick box in a wee cosy bed I made for him. He has appeared this morning with a bald bit above his eye, all the fur is just all gone in a circle round it, and its been bleeding in the centre. He might have been fighting but I wanted to ask you if this could be mange ? Or what do you think it might be ? He wont let anybody pick him up so I cant get him into the vet. Would prefer to try and treat him myself anyway, vets woudl stress him to hell.

I would try your hardest to get him to the vet.
We have just had our cat to the vet last week with exactly the same thing, the bite from another cat turned badly and an abcess was forming. Poor tink had to be in overnight and has been in an elizabethan collar all week and on antibiotics. With other cats bites they are likely to turn septic and an infection set in so if you can please do.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
is does sound like an abcess, my cat fur would fall out around the site of the bite which had going icky and pus leaking out. he may need an antibiotic. if you can't get him in a cat carrier, the vet may give you anit b tablets to put in his food.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!

Ok many thanks both. I will slap some honey on it every time I can get the chance, & if he stops eating I'll go and ask the vet
