Half keyboard not working on laptop.

Good Morning,

Hoping someone would be able to advise me on my keyboard. We have an advent laptop and since yesterday half the keys on the keyboard arent working, when I press J an x comes up when I press U the start menu appears.
I have tried tapping the windows key incase it was stuck down but this has no effect, does anyone else have any ideas what might becausing it.? I have just done a complete destructive recovery so its like brand new and still the UIOPJKLM 7890 dont work.. Arghh.

Many thanks

Sue~

sounds like the keyboards failed , fairly easy to replace if you can get one off ebay (I've done loads )

if you don't use it out and about might be easier to get a USB keyboard

    what make and model laptop

Are any of the key stuck.....like the windows key, which will make any of the shortcut keys activate?

Thanks for the replies, tried holding down FN and then pressing No. lock but still the same. Really maddening as I dont think the keyboard is broken because it is still bringing up unrelated things like pressing j and getting an x and pressing u and o and getting the menu pop up.
    Thanks again:beer:
