It's the same though, I always take her and keep an eye on her, I never just put her out and shut the door

Okay. Sorry I misunderstood. So when you put her in the kitchen at bedtime and she pooed you had already been in the garden with her but she hadn't pooed. Is that right?

    Yep.

I understand that she will probably be confused and this is why I came on here for some advice. Sometimes I feel so sorry for her cos she seems so muddled from her last home and it's not fair :(

I have started letting them into the garden separately as otherwise they get really boisterous and won't go to the toilet, but I always keep an eye on them, 1. so they do not get out the garden etc and 2. so I know if they have been to the toilet or not.

    :)

I don't have much else to add, just going back to basics puppy training and mega amounts of praise when your dog does it right.

I read a book years ago called something like 'how to housetrain your dog in 5 days' and I recall the author commenting that if the dog poos in the kitchen when you are there and gets a row the dog learns not to poo in the kitchen when you are there. This is not the same as the dog learns not to poo in the kitchen. It comes down to teaching the dog what you want it to do rather than punishing for what you don't want to do or you may end up finding parcels and puddles in more hidden locations.

Good luck, you must have your hands full with a bully and an american bulldog :)

I bought a book by Victoria Stilwell as well as I think she is great as she teaches you to try and think how the dog thinks. I see your point ali-t, and I will bare that in mind!! :)

Certainly do...the EBT isn't too bad...he just lacks basic manners and seems to think he is the King of the Castle!!! :D

I have always loved EBTs but my mum said they were 'ugly' when I used to ask for one lol. As soon as I moved out I got Bully...he was just over a year old and was being sold as his owner's other dog, a Staffy, kept attacking him. He's the daftest dog I have ever met lol, he's my little clown :)

He has no manners or consideration for others but I still love him :D

Also, my mum also loves him and doesn't think he is 'ugly'.

I love them, everything about them from the dirty looks they give from those triangle shaped eyes, the bully swagger, the crazy bully runs, the nose like a horse, the bat ears etc etc I could go on and on. They are an acquired taste but I think that once you get the taste for them there's no going back. I don't have one but could definitely be persuaded in the future...

Haha. I know what you mean by the dirty looks...I've been on the received end of many of those 'I am not impressed' looks!!! I love how Bully looks when his ears are pricked up, I wish I could have seen him when he was a puppy :)

I don't think I will ever get a different breed, I just love EBTs :D
