Do I switch to British Gas ??
I have recently ( like everyone else) been reviewing my utility suppliers. I've been with British Gas for gas and npower for electricity for years and thought now is the time to switch, particularly from B.Gas. In fact Martin himself has said , along with others in the media world, if you havn't moved from B.Gas do so. Imagine my surprise when using the recommended utility switchers on this site that they all recommend switching to a dual fuel contract with.......British Gas !!
I rang B.Gas to check out my consumption for the year and was offered a months free electricity or £150.00 in holiday vouchers if I moved my electricity to them ( I currently pay £41.00 monthly to npower for electricity) so not a bad offer I thought.
Can anyone offer advice as I thought the sensible option was to move from B.Gas.

I also got told the cheapest for me was British Gas. I went with it, yet to see if I made a mistake. Mind you a months free electricity would be worth changing for then change after the month if you want!!0

That'll be BG Click energy then I'm guessing, they delayed price rise until Dec or Jan (can't remember whichi) to con customers who use th price switching sites into switching over, nobody on this site seems to have a good word to say about them (apart from British Gas Worker, which is to be expected I guess!). I hope you don't live to regret it.

only you can make that choice!!! my cheapest was also BG click but when my switch details came through it seemed they knew nothing about this tarriff and even when i called them didnt really seem to have a clue. In the end i decided to go with southern and everything has happened very smoothly and quickly so far. When i queried my supposed dd with b gas which was more expensive than current supplier they told me that I could pay whatever I wanted really then settle up at the end but I thought the object was that you pay the nearest you can then havent got a huge sum to fork out0

Before anyone says, yes, I am a (very happy) Utility Warehouse Distributor! but I'd like to tell you about this bit of information so that you have the choice. By the way, I personally will not benefit in anyway from telling you this!
Utility Warehouse (Telecom Plus) has recently introduced a new package where club members receive unlimited free calls at anytime of the day, to any fixed telephone number in the UK, depending on the number of different services taken (e.g, Home Phone, Mobile, Gas, Electricity, Internet or Broadcall).
2 Services = Free Weekend Calls
 3 Services = Free Evenings & Weekends
4+ Services = Free At any time
This means that you could take your Electricity and other utilities through UW and benefit from free calls - which I think is a better saving than a months free electricity. There is NO MINIMUM contract with UW so you can try the service with peace of mind that if for some reason you aren't happy you are not 'trapped'.
Hope this helps, and just to re-iterate to anyone who feels that I am touting for business......... I do not benefit from telling you this information!Learn from the past......

KTSG, British Gas gives you evening & free weekend calls (for 6 months) if you have two products from them through talk talk... and you still get the free electric.
Miffymidd, personally I would switch it and try to get the savings, but if I got mucked about I would switch away again. At the end of the day, I'm sure there are some people who don't have probems!0

Don't forget if you are changing providers to go through a cashback site so that you get some extra money for switching. Look at Martins guides if you aren't sure how this works or which ones to use.0

Tripled, that 'sounds' a good deal, but is there a minimum contract with BG? for example do you get 6 months free eve and wk end calls but you are tied in for 12 months?
UW give you free calls and Electricity at Wholesale prices with no contact. Where as BG will 'give' you free gas for one month (wooohooo - sorry), 6 months of free eve and wk end calls, a 12 month contract (?) and you get to pay retail prices!
All I would say is that it's great to get the latest deal/crowd puller, but look out for the consistent ones, and preferably ones that don't tie you into a minimum contract - that just says to me that they don't have the confidence to be or remain competative in the market if they have to 'trap' a customer. That is just my opinion.
I'm not going to get into a debate about this one. I am a happy UW customer and distributor and no-one will change that. I'll leave this here.
Good luck and hope you get the best deal for you. Learn from the past...... Learn from the past......

I'm with BG click engergy. It's the cheapest Econ7 for me.
However, it took the 3 months to actually put me onto an Econ 7 tariff, despite me switching with that as my request. I've still got to get them to sort out their bills.Happy chappy0

Uh oh Im a bit worried now. I just went on the uswitch website and chose the best didnt realise that they would be doing that. Hope that it doesn't go up too high, I just dont understand all this thats why I used the uswitch website in the first place. Thanks for the warning.0

Thought the BG Click energy offer was too good to be true, so I asked them about the "delayed price rise" and actually got the E mail reply below
"Thank you for your enquiry to House regarding our Click Energy tariff. At this time we do not know when the prices will rise or by how much.
I would like to tell you however that if you sign up you can always change to another tariff if you are not happy with the price increase. Prices will not rise in the next price increase above those of the current domestic prices."
Once they have you nicely signed up you might find they become uncompetitive, I'm going to ebico0
