Cost of tiling kitchen

Options
Husband fitted our new kitchen, saving us a couple of thousand . He does not have the time to do the tiling . We have had one quote so far of 200, tiler said it would take a day, there are 4 electric sockets to tile round and tiles along two walls along the counters, two tile depth. One counter is about 10 feet long, the other about 5 feet and it would go up in to cooker hood. He will supply adhesive and we will provide the tiles.

Thanks for any advice.

£200 a day and he is supplying the adhesive and grout is about the going rate here in london for a days work.

Would check on the work he has already done or photos.

I think that is a fair price. You'll be lucky to get it much cheaper than that.
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
  • We paid £120 for our splashback up around chimney hood too. Our worktop is really long (3m one side and 2m60 on the other side, however we have a large window on the longer worktop). We used 5 boxes of tiles from Homebase (brick effect ones) I think they were 1/2 metre per box. So, about 2 1/2 square metres. That was labour only, we supplied all materials.

We were recommended the tiler, were told he was good but also cheap. The tile shop we used for our bathroom told us he was cheap and that he could charge more.
  • £200 is a fair price, especially when you take in account the price YOU would pay for adhesive and grout from tile stockists (no names mentioned).

As sharkie said its the going rate down here.
  • It's a very time consuming job if done correctly, so £200 sounds very fair!
