    Hi
    See http://www.fsa.gov.uk/consumer/pdfs/bank_account.pdf
Go to page 6. Some accounts are available (in theory  ) even for undischarged bankrupts ...

Bekci, if you earn over 20k then apply to Citibank as they have just accepted me and I am a discharged bankrupt.

If not apply for the Cooperative Bank Cashminder account.

    Hope that helps.
  • Is there a certain account i should apply for with citi bank and is it a current account ?

    Thanks

The account I have got is the sterling current account, if you apply on line you can't miss it.

    Or you can try ..

    Natwest - Step Account
    Yorkshire Bank - ReadyCash Account

Both these accounts come with a debt card as standard and internet banking and all the other usual frills.

I can recommend both of them from personal experience.

People should be aware that Natwest will ONLY let you have a step account with a maximum of 1 outstanding CCJ. I know this as I have a step account and tried to open a second about 6 months later for a sole trader purpose but they declined due to 2 CCJ's from a bad period of time! They told me they accept people with 1 CCJ though!
  • I just opened a nationwide flex account online for the OH. He didnt have a bank at all. There were no problems. It is just a basic account with a cash card, but you can set up DD's one off payments etc.

my credit is pretty dire and i managed to get accepted for a full halifax account, they give you an overdraft and a debit card and reassess after 4 months, i think this only applies if you arnt already a customer tho and if you are getting them to switch your account from another bank. I think it depends what you mean by adverse credit.

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.
