There used to be a cashback CapitalOne card promoted on this website which was fee-free suitable for people with low credit rating, giving 1% cashback with around 30% APR - which was fine as an intension was to repay balance in full every month. You had to apply for it online via link to some comparison website and make an application until ~30th of October. I thought it was the a good idea for one of my best mates to get as he hasn't got much of a credit history. Due to his limited English skills i have assisted him with an application buy telling him through Skype and him showing me what he has on the screen so we have submited this application online around the middle of October. It is December now, but he hasn't heard of them since then.
Just wandering if there is anyone on this forum who has applied for that card and how long did it take you to get a response ?
Another problem is that due to his limited English skills he would not be able to call them and enquire about it and obviously they wouldn't talk to me due to Data Protection Act. He would be fine to discuss the matter face to face, however I would doubt that in this call centre society it would be possible. Any thoughts on that guys ?

Unfortunately sometimes some lenders don't even bother to send a decline letter....most probably that if he has not heard anything since October he should assume that he has been declined.

I think you mean Capital One, Co-op doesn't do a card for poor credit histories. It sounds to me like he has been declined. If he had been accepted he'd have had the card by now. Maybe he could try vanquis
Debt free and staying that way!

Mate even if capital one would of excepted you don't know how much cashback you were expecting to get with a £200 credit limit.

Well there is nothing that is stoping you if for example you spend £600 a month to transfer £200 3 times a month. Also there is nothing that stops you from increasing your limit, after you have proved to them being a good customer

Well this post is not about myself. but about my mate who's Credit history isn't too good.
The card you have quoted has got £18 a year fee - so for a people who were after a Cashabck card and were going to repay balance in full it was a better deal.

I would personally go for card with 2% Cashback and 1000% APR if it was available as for a full ammount repayers, like myself low interest rate is not a benefit at all
