Indoor Cat or Outdoor Cat?

Options
Just wondered if people have an indoor or outdoor cat and why? A post earlier made me think..as somebody said that they found it offensive when people have indoor cats?!

I have a 2 year old cat who is an indoor cat...purely because he doesn't want to go out, I regularly give him the opportunity to go out but he isn't interested!

:)

hi...got an indoor cat here - we live in a flat (top floor) and he gets 'out' to the balcony thru jumpin windows to get to his cat litter....tried to take him for a 'walk' but he didn't want to go out plus the road is busy so we avoided it at first anyway..

My cat is an indoor cat throughout the colder weather!! In the summer he wanders off for hours and hours. He will only come in when he wants to as won't let you bring him in!!!

So energetic indoors, playful and we play hide n seek, invent games and he chases me when the lights go out for bedtime!!

My old cat never wanted to go out although we used to live in a house for a bit - he was permanently attached to a duvet/pillow and never wanted to go out so when we moved into a flat he was perfectly happy.

The 4 I have now are going to have an indoor life - they have each other for company and Zara as a big friend so they do not get bored...

I know which post youu are talking about - just ignore ;)

Mine can go in and out but choose to spend most of their time indoors.
:dance:Sometimes I sing and dance around the house in my underwear. Doesn't make me Madonna. Never will.

We moved to a bigger house in the summer and it is set back from the road and has a large front and back garden and I thought this might make him go out. A few months ago he jumped out the kitchen window and disappeared for a bit, but I think that's because he couldn't figure out how to get back in! I think when the weather starts to get better I will try encouraging him because I think he would love playing out in the garden! Like I said though, I wouldn't force him!

My two are indoor as I live in a first floor flat with a big heavy communal front door so no easy way for them to get in and out, also I live literally two minutes from a dual carriageway and wouldn't want to risk my two getting run over. Im even more glad that I keep them indoors now as my neighbours cat was recently killed by someone's dog, the dog escaped from the back garden and chased the cat and killed it, both owners were devastated but no one could have predicted that a jack russell would break through a wooden 6 foot fence!

  • I have 2 cats. I have a catflap, one cat goes out and one chooses not to. They are both incredibly lazy though as the one that goes out tends just to go out and sleep in the garden in the summer and literally just nips out for toilet duties in the winter. The other one has a litter tray.

I've got 3 cats now and a catflap so they can come and go as they please..... but in reality they are indoors at least 22 hours a day (usually on my bed!)
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D

I've always had outdoor cats - moggies - but this one is an indoor one as she's a maine coon and I'm hoping to get a litter from her, but not in her first couple of seasons.
