Amazon pricing query

Hi,

I wasn't sure where to post this, so hope it's ok here.

I have been looking at a camera on Amazon's website for a few weeks now, hoping the price would go down, but it's gone up & only down a tiny bit, the way some things do on Amazon's site.

I looked again this morning and saw that there were 'only 3 left in stock, more to follow soon.' Over the next half hour this went down to just 1.

I decided to go for it there & then as the price was at its lowest, so I went through the purchase process. When I'd finished, I noticed that the price of the camera had increased and was now available from another seller. That made sense as I had apparently had the last one.

But then when I looked again 10 minutes later, although the price was still higher and still available through the 3rd party seller, the Amazon price I paid was still shown on the right hand side - where they list 3rd party sellers. I clicked on it and was able to add it to my basket!

My queries are: how come I was told there was just one left and 'more to follow soon' when it was still possible to order one via Amazon after I'd purchased

and

Why was the 3rd party price shown under the item and not the cheaper Amazon price once I'd bought ahem 'the last one?'

I hope this all makes sense, sorry it's quite long winded! :)

Usually Amazon's items on the right side (where the other sellers are listed) are not available for immediate delivery............
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

Amazon allows you to buy when they are out of stock, you just might have to wait longer to get your item.

Hmm, I was told that delivery wouldn't be until mid January even though I ordered it when the Amazon price was underneath the item description, so the delivery time would have been the same.

But I received an e-mail this morning to say that delivery would now be earlier, at the latest 29th December. :)

I've found that Amazon delivery dates are usually pessimistic, and regularly will arrive several days before they state!

I only use the free deliver (3-5 days) & it usually takes 2 (although in the current weather that might increase)
