I recently changed my combined gas nd electric supplier as a lot of people have done to save money.
My existing supplier didnt try to keep me as i mentioned that i dont want to be convinced as im only phoning to settle things.
Anyway they advised me that if im with a firm thats not one of the 'Big six' then they may actually be owned by one of the 'big six' and prices will rise accordingly.
Im well aware companies do increase the cost of fuel and i have more than accepted that it will happen but needs must and we need to make changes where we can.
The bottom line is......is the firm i've switched to owned by one of the big 6 companies?
I have signed up to first:utility
They may be owned by another firm ie British Gas and im considering staying with my existing supplier if first:utilities rise more than npower (my current supplier)

Well, here is a test for ya,
input your usage into uswitch, pretend you are with npower and 1st utility will come out tops, now re-input using 1st utilty and npower will come out tops, I have not gone dual fuel but if I were it would be with one of the big six, FU has enough threads here, OVO was king of the hill this time last year, and they have shown their colours too.0 -
FU, could the hint be in their initials?:DThat gum you like is coming back in style.0

First Utility are not owned by British Gas.
Visit the suppliers website and they will advise if they are owned by someone else e.g. Atlantic is a trading name of SSE (as is Southern Electric, Scottish Hydro, etc)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
First Utility are an independent company who have been around for about 2 years now.0

Are there any companies called:
Second Choice Energy
Third Option Power
Last Resort Utilities.
I would be tempted to try them just for the name.0 -
well.....thanks for the input, ill give them a try for 12 months see how i get on, they all seem as bad as one anbother, its a damn minefield, but at least its easy to switch over these days and comparison sites for all things like this are a god send to me0

There appear to be major issues with FU's billing efficiency, so I suggest you read the relevant posts before you go wth them.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
