Moneysupermarket cashback how does it work

Options
Hi,

Moneysupermarket provides cashback for users who visit other websites via links within Moneysupermarket.com. Do I have to have user account with Moneysupermarket? How to get registered?

Thanks in advance!

You only get cashback from Moneysupermarket if you go via the special MSE link ... and then only for certain products (e.g. gas & electricity). If you follow the correct link, full terms and conditions are available for the cashback.

You will also be asked for an email address when doing the comparison.

You don't get cashback just for visiting other sites - you have to actually buy something ;)

  • For example:lets say, I wanted to open a Halifax Reward Account via MSE link on the link:
    MSE website: .com/banking/compare-best-bank-accounts?dd

MSE will give £50 for every successful new account in Halifax.

My question is that, How does MSE know which user to give? Because in other cashback websites, every user has a user account. In MSE, I cannot find a link to register.

Unfortunately, I believe that deal ended a couple of days ago (2nd December) hence why there is no need for moneysupermarket to track who applies. It was available since June.

  • Sorry, I think I still didnt make myself clear.

I meant how MSE give user cashback if user account from MSE is not used. The £50 is offered by MSE, not by Halifax in the example above.

MSE doesn't give any of its users cashback as it doesn't even sell anything, afaik.

According to the MSE article, the cashback was coming from moneysupermarket.com (if you went through them to 'buy' the current account product). I don't think you needed to go via an MSE affiliated link to get the cashback from moneysupermarket.com for that deal ... but you did have to go via moneysupermarket.com

That deal has now ended. The above image is from an old moneysupermarket webpage, not from Halifax.

I did this through the mse link and I have had my halifax account open for two months now but I have heard nothing about the cashback yet, is there any contact or way of finding out if it tracked at all?

ETA: anyone else wanting to check, I found this forum on moneysupermarket - http://www.moneysupermarket.com/community/forums/t/halifax-reward-current-account-16350-cashback-44290.aspx
There is an email to contact a member of staff who has offered to look so I have done that and I will hope for a positive outcome. :)
