BACs worries

Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone could help.

I bought an ipad online at redstarimports, com. They are a trade sitre who now accept individual orders. I paid £330 by BACs.

Its two weeks later now, and despite an email from them which attempts to reassure me there is a delay, I am getting worried.

My questions are :

1) Do I have any protection paying by BACs - could I claim it back if the company are dodgy ?

2) Has anyone ever bought anything from this site and got their goods ?

Many thanks
Marc

  • Sounds like you may have been scammed, Unfortunatly when it comes to direct bank transfers there is no protection.
  • Would I be protected on my insurance ? Or do I get the police involved. After all, I have the website administrator's address

    Are you serious?

Their website seems to say they no longer have stock, and won't be getting any more in for Xmas.

So, simply exercise your right to cancel the order and wait (up to) 28 days for the money to be returned.

  • So do you think the site is genuine then ?

Why didn't you just buy from a standard shop like PC World or Apple?

Hasn't it made you suspicious how that website are able to sell iPad's for £280.. but Apple sells it for £400+? Did you really think Apple, who manufacturers the iPad, would undercut themselves? It's Apple who sets the prices for the iPad and there would be no way any business could sell them any cheaper, unless they are stolen/fake. "Redstar Imports" isn't an offical Apple reseller so they have no legal right listing any of the Apple products.

That website is 100% scam. You've been had, unfortunately.

  • Phew. That sounds OK to me.

Interestingly, I got an email tonight after I started this post :

    Marc,

The mobile number on your account went to voicemail, I left a voicemail for you on your landline. Your order is due to leave on Monday.

I had a message on my answering machine tonight - 'Hi, its Lee here from redstarimports, sorry for the delay, the snow has meant we haven't had a Parcelforce collection all week. You should get your iPAd on Tuesday'

Looks like I might have got an iPAD for £100 under the PC World price.

A couple of weeks worrying might be worth it
