RIGHT HERE GOES
remember the following
*any smokers you see will at some point have to go through what you are they just havent faced up to it yet so well done!!!!
*the craving you are experiencing now will never ever get any worse than it is now this is it babe this is as bad as it gets!
*you dont feel better after a fag you feel normal nonsmokers feel like that all the time.
*if you give in now you will have to go through this crappy begining bit again next time
*in 3 weeks you will be over the worst
* buy allan carrs stop smoking the easy way it really does help
sorry if all that made me sound like a smart a*&*e i have been stopped 5 weeks for good this time!0 -

Well done for giving up!!
I gave up 3yrs ago when my dad had cancer so that was the 'kick-up-the-jacksie' i needed but to be honest willpower is the most important thing. I personally think that the gum thing is a con but you have to do what you think works for you.
The first 3 weeks is the hardest, stay away from pubs, resteraunts, clubs etc where a lot of people smoke to try to break the association and urges you have with cigarettes.
For example i always found alcohol turned on the urge for fags big time!! So don't drink (save 2 lots of money) until you feel you've lost the urge.
I always liked a ciggy after eating but when i gave up i would play cards or go on the PC, just to give my hands something to do, instead of lighting up.
And once you have got your sense of smell back properly (about 4 months in my case) you'll wonder why you didn't give up sooner.
When you smell someone who smokes it really does make you heave!! Haven't smoked now for 3yrs apart from occasional cigar at xmas which i immediately regret.
The weed IS a powerful, addictive drug but with real effort you can quit and save money to boot. Mr Brown gets enough of our money thank you very much.
Very best of luck to you and well done!! :T0 -
I gave up for 6 months this year, unfortunatly I had a lapse when I lost my nan in the summer. I am trying to get the motivation to pack up again now.
When I gave up before though I found it really helped to do a Jigsaw in the evening, that way my hands and mind were busy and I didn't think about smoking!0 -
Hi LydiaSophia - Congratulations :T
I am currently on day 20 of not smoking, I have the patches (prescribed from the Dr's) and I started with the nicotine gum - for wobble momentsI'm still on the patches, but have downgraded to normal gum for my wobble moments. It *is* hard, but my main motivation is all the money I'm saving - look at my signature - in 20 days I have saved £85.00  I keep a running total of this on my calendar in the kitchen, and also in my signature - keeps me going
I am by no means classing myself as a non-smoker (yet
) but I find it helps if you only think one day at a time - not I'm giving up for good, and every day of not smoking is a major achievement.
Keep up the good work - fingers crossedSquares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
