Hi everyone
I hope you don't think this is a silly question but please bare in mind I am a mere woman, blonde and a pensioner, lol.
I have recently purchased a Humax freeview recorder.
When I have scheduled the machine to record a later programme is it ok to turn the machine onto the stand by position or should I leave it turned on?
Thanks
Pam

Standby is fine ...the machine will "wake-up" a few minutes before the scheduled start time, record the programme and then go back into standby mode.0

What does the instruction manual say on this topic?0

Funny how the instruction book writers often forget to include the bleedin' obvious!0

I have a Humax Freeview recorder PVR-9200T and you can program a recording and switch it to standby. It doesn't switch on as such when recording, it looks like it is still in standby and TV cannot be watched while in Standby. It can be brought out of standby while recording if TV viewing is wanted and the 2nd Tuner allows a different channel to be recorded to the one being viewed.
You can hear it recording while in standby if you listen in a quiet room or gently place your hand on the outside of the case and feel it working.
It will record providing the recorder has power going to it, so providing you don't switch it off at the wall socket it will work.
Some Freeview recorders have Serial link which is part of Freeview+ which records regularly broadcast programmes, auto adjusting the programme time to record them on a regular basis. So check whether yours has that because it will mean you don't need to keep programming it for regular TV programmes such as Eastenders etc.
On Humax Freeview recorders you can press a button on the remote to view the recorded programmes and it will show REC next to any that are currently recording so you can use that to check whether a recording is happening like you wanted. You can also play it back while it's recording to watch the programme providing you don't get too close to the end, if so the playback stops on mine. Doing that avoids it interfering with the viewing when the recording ends because on mine it jumps to the current time which messes up the playback and I have to find where I got to in the recording itself. That's only if you are watching past time in case you paused it to visit the loo. So playing back the recording rather than watching the channel gets around it. I am using an older firmware so things might be different with newer firmwares. Auto firmware update is often enabled on many machines.0 -
If pampam would give us the Model number we could download and check the specific info. Start early / late run and whole series should be possible whether once / daily / weekly / series etc, from the recording schedule window, if you have forgotten your password the default is 0000.
As TonyMMM says it should be possible even if you are out of the country, that's what standby [ in this case ] is forDisclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
