pc wont boot up.

i took out my dvd player from my old pc to use in my new one,i then took out the hard drive so i could get the the dust from under it,after putting hard drive back in and fired it up,now it seems to be in a continious loop of booting up,ive clicked onto safe mode and last know working configureation but it still wont boot up.
any ideas as to whats going on?

What's the make and are there any error messages? Do you have an xp cd?0

yes ive got xp cd,and make of mother board is asrock.
black screen coming up with the options to go into safe mode,last working configuration,safe mode with networking,when i highlight one of these options it will try and reboot,then for about 1 second i see a blue screen with writing but cant read it as its too quick,then it reboots again.0 -
Remake the connections that you undid .
Check Ram Video etc seated correctly check all interbal connections with power off ground yourself first .

ok ive checked all connections and got it working,
how do i copy everything thats on the hard drive to my external hard drive?
im going to do a fresh install but i want to back everything up first.0 -
Windirstat is a prog that shows what is taking up the space on h/drive very clearly. Try it , free , - http://sourceforge.net/projects/windirstat/
Cut and paste is as quick a way as any - but do you really want to copy over everything , rubbish,old install etc. ?0
