Tesco Home Delivery

When you buy online from Tesco, do they want the money straightaway or when the stuff is delivered. Spent all of October's budget, but just wondered if I arranged for delivery on 1st November, would the money come out that day too?

I believe it comes out on the day of delivery as they don't always have the stuff you ordered. They can only check that on the day so can only bill you accurately on the day.:D

They only charge you once you have 'signed' the delivery mans electronic gizmo. I used to get Tesco deliveries every week but have stopped as it is now £6 to have your deliveries on Fri/Sat/Sun. I may go back to getting a bulk order of non-perishables every month though.

Definately are not charge until your shopping is picked (on day of delivery). I put an order through last night for delivery today but used the wrong card to pay, so phoned the store this morning to change card details but she could not process it as shopping had not been picked. She rang me back once shopping had been done and tallied so I could give her different card details .

Reminds me I must take that old card out of my purse as wages dont go into that account anymore and could get embarrasing next time Im out and about.

The thing that has always put me off having a supermarket deliver my groceries, is that do they take the same effort as I do when they pick items for you.

Example, when we get fruit and veg from the supermarket, I use my senses, for veg I am looking for items that are not bruised or battered or limp. I am always delving at the back to get the things with the latest sell by dates, and smelling fruits for ripeness.

How can having someone else do this for me, get me the best deals, and the best of whats in store?

I shop online with Tesco all the time. The money won't come out of your acct until the day of delivery, but when you place the order online, it will refuse payment if there are insufficient funds in your bank acct at the time of placing the order. This has happened to me when I've tried to place an order in advance have nearly nothing in the bank. HTH

If I am not totally satisfied with the quality/ use by dates of my fruit and veg I ring CS to complain- they always refund the purchase price without question (and sometimes offer to refund the delivery charge too for the inconvenience).

I have just recently started ordering from Tescos, and I must say that all my fruit and veg has been perfect. Infact the fruit and veg seems better than I have seen on the shelves in the shop! Shopping online also means no standing in queues, and no impulse buying.

I haven't bought online because I used to work with someone who had picked the stuff for online shoppers. She used to brag about how she used to pick the worst looking produce because she didn't agree with "rich" people not bothering to do their own shopping :mad:

How do you know if the use by dates, are shorter than those in store, in order to complain?
