Barclays Bug Off

I have been trying to open a business account with Barclays since 16th November.

Phoned 0845...:( and was told my relationship manager would contact me to arrange an appointment. Got a phone call three days later. "I am on holiday next week, first appointment is Monday 29th". Got a call on the Monday "I can't make it because of snow, when are you available next week".
"I need an account set up soonest, is there someone else or can you post the forms?".
"I will post them to you"
Friday and still no forms.
I phone to be told she has not been at work all week - because of the weather.
"I need an account set up soonest, is there someone else or can you post the forms?".
"I will leave a message on her voice mail to contact you"
"That really is not good enough. Can you please contact the branch and ask someone to phone me asap?"
I am still waiting ........

Phoned RBS 0800..:) and "Would you like to visit one of our branches or we can do it by mail?" The guy took details over the phone completed documents and e mailed for me to sign and return. I checked, signed and posted them back this afternoon. :A

  • I guess it depends on the branch. I can say the Durham-based business manager who dealt with me was nothing but the best. She bent over backwards to get me what I needed.

So maybe try again and hope you get someone else in a different branch if you don't get anywhere with RBS.

It seems there is only one person who deals with new business accounts at my yocal branch. I phoned Barclays national business "help:rotfl:" line. In her absence I would have thought they should be able to redirect me to someone who gives a damn but all they could do was tell me they would pass on a message. Maybe she will be at work tomorrow :(

If this is typical of the service I can expect my branch to provide, I may have been fortunate to find that out before I opened an account.

I know Barclays staff are not all bad. I get very good service from Barclays.es on my account in spain.

I am glad you get better service than I. :T

Three weeks and still no further forward with Barclays. If I thought it would do any good I would make a complaint.
