Hi all i declared myself BR in june 2008 and got my nt tax code as usual and paid my ipa etc
the tax year ended 2009 and my NT code stayed on my payslip, my employer said that they have never recieved a coding notice removing the NT code, early this year i rang HMRC and got them to send me a new coding notice as i did not believe my tax code was correct.
Today i have recieved 2 p800's one for the year i was BR and one for last year because i believe that the OR/HMRC failed to change my coding back to normal.
do i have to pay the outstanding tax they say i owe or do i have an argument i can win?
