well done, i'm glad it went smoothly for you....

as said above, have your br order to hand and just give anyone who calls the br number and court name. you might get a few calls as the OR has 8 weeks to write to your creditors, but it will eventually die down x

i agree with this - i didn't inform anyone proactively, just waited until they phoned us, then gave them the information from the slip of paper from the court with my BR number on it.
i've had no problems so far, no more letters, one DCA company does occasionally phone for OH (he went BR at the same time as me, but when I answer the phone they won't discuss anything with me, won't take his BR info from me etc - whatever, their loss).

Well done OP, today was the first step towards your future :).

No, you don`t do your clean up until 2 to 3 months after being discharged.

thanks just thought i'd check :)
  • I have been bankrupt for 4 months now and i can tell you its been a huge relief. The only downside is that there is no option for the "have now pay later" option of which i have become so accustomed to over the years. I have been getting used to saving now and it feels so good when you walk into a shop and pay with cash/debit card.

Once my bankruptsy ends then i will attemp to rebuild my history to hopefully one day get a mortgage but i am now already saving for the deposit. I will never get myself into mountains of debt with creditcards, overdrafts and loans again as i feel so free now and it has changed my life drastically for the better.
