Hi all i did the deed this morning and i'm now officially bankrupt! it was an easy and not scary experience and they did it all in one go (rather than returning later in the day after they have checked my paperwork etc) due to the weather they didn't want to make me go away and come back, which was nice. I didn't have to see the judge, just a random court man in an office, then waited in the court reception for 45 mins before he returned with my paperwork and said the OR will phone me soon and i don't need to do anything else. It feels like such a relief and I had a call from a creditor on the way home and i told them i am now officially bankrupt - he then still proceeded to ask me to make a payment?! i just hung up! idiots! What shall i expect from now on? do i need to inform my creditors of my BR or does the OR do that? how long does the OR take to make contact generally? thanks all

Turn the

I went BR on 15th Nov - I immediately wrote to all my creditors and sent them copies of the BR Order. Only had one on my case - it is Santander who say they havent received my proof. It may take the OR a while to write to them all so I would do what I did.
Good luck0 -
Hi Hunt 85, the OR will contact your creditors.....bear in mind it could take 6 to 8 weeks. If anyone calls just give them your Bankruptcy Order number and your OR's details only.
I'm pleased it went well and onwards and upwards now
Best wishes

oh thanks thats great too! anyone that does hassle me I will just send them something myself to speed it up, but anyone that doesn't i'll just wait for the OR to contact them
only thing i'm worrying about now is if i get to keep my car which i need for work! 0 -
well done, i'm glad it went smoothly for you....
as said above, have your br order to hand and just give anyone who calls the br number and court name. you might get a few calls as the OR has 8 weeks to write to your creditors, but it will eventually die down x0 -

It is the Bankruprtcy Order which will have your Insolvency Number on and the details of the OR.
It has worked well. Another good tip is change your mobile number if the creditors have it.
Under normal circumstances just ringing them with the details would do but with the online insolvency register having been down for weeks hard proof cant hurt.0 -
Hunt85, don't ever ring your creditors (would cost you again and they rarely listen to what you are saying!!) write if you wish but personally I wouldn't as it will cost you money, you would need to send them recorded delivery too x
If you feel you want to write here is Fermi’s letter informing Creditor’s of your BR.

Congratulations - start of a new life!
I didn't write to my creditors. The only one that persists in harassing me is Vanquis. I wrote to the or and vanquis today. Aside from that they have given up - 2 days since I had any post at all. :beer:0 -

My strategy worked for me anyway - if you wait for the OR to write to them you could have 8 weeks of hassle from your creditors0
