Lost Bank Card - Have to go into Branch with ID?

I have lost my bank card to myself Halifax account that I rarely use anymore at all, over 2 months since I have. The woman I spoke to said she could cancel my card, but I would have to go into branch to get a new one ordered?

Is this because I dont use it much that they need me to do that?
Or because I may have got some "recent account activity" info wrong?

I imagine that you have failed security, as they are normally able to just re-issue one.
  • Yes that's what I thought, but, the security I said was correct, as in transactions, and the amounts were correct, but there werent the most recent, it was hard to remember it all. THE most recent was a transfer for £15 to my other account which I didnt mention as I had forgot, but the others were correct which had occured before that.

The info I gave them was from 5th october. The most recent, which I had forgot was on the 18th october.
  • I've never had an issue with halifax reordering a lost card over the phone ! No idea why they want you to go to a branch except for a security issue
