Some advice and help needed please. We are about to go to travelling in Spain for 3 months and as obviously will not have a landline we would like to be able to access the internet from the laptop. Been told that only way is to find free wifi hot spots in a hotel lobby?? also been told that we need a dongle?? Some advice from someone who has been there and done that would be very welcome Thanks

If l was to go travelling as your planning, l would weigh up the cost of purchasing and using the dongle, very high costs by all accounts as well as the additional pressures on making sure the laptop don't get lost or stolen.
I am aware that you can access wifi hotspots in hotel lobbys but most charge a fee for 24hr acccess.
Personally l would look at the option of using internet cafe's they seem to be in most places these days. Not sure but you may be able to google to find internet cafes along your route prior to leaving.
Also l wonder if it would be better to buy a cheap netbook £150+ to take if you did decide to take one, depends on its capabilities l suppose.
Happy travelling and don't forget to send us all an e-card0 -
Thanks for taking the time to reply - macman has suggested that I buy a dongle in spain to cut down on the uk charges so I may well give that a try0

Where are you going in spain? Does your laptop support Wifi?
In cities or on the costas internet cafes and Wifi hotspots are more widely available and cheaper than in UK. If you are in the campo, mobile phone & internet can be difficult. Some cafes and hotels offer free Wifi to customers.
A UK dongle will work in spain, but expensive to use.
A spanish dongle is available from any phone shop / Cortes Ingles / Carrefor. PAYG will cost circa 4€ / day

Thanks for the info missile -we will be travelling around as the fancy takes us, anywhere to get away from the snow we are currently experiencing here. Certainly worth thinking about getting the dongle over there That hadn't occurred to us or the fact that they would be so easy to get hold of many thanks for that.0
