Price rises + Switching

I thought I saw something somewhere on MSE a while ago about being able to retain your current taffiff whilst switching suppliers if someone could find me a link I would be most grateful. Basically I found out after browsing Swalec's website - They have not actually bothered to tell me directly that thier prices were going up as of the 1st Dec. I have been in the process of switching for the last week but It may take longer than planned due to a problem with my meter serials.
Am I entitled to request Swalec continue billing me at the previous amount until the switch takes place?

Phoned up Atlantic as also found this information on the price rise leaflet they had posted to me - they have recently increased their Gas prices, i'd applied to switch to EDF although it will be a while yet before it actually happens.
I requested to opt out of their price increase and stay on old tarriff as i was switching supplier due to the price rise. The rep didn't know this could be done (she'd just got back from hols apparently) but went and found out and confirmed this could be done until the switch took place. She made a note on my account to this effect.
Just have to check the final bill when it comes in!0
