Is the 'applicable amount' for housing benefit a fixed rate?

It says the applicable amount on my HB and CT calculation is 65.45. Is this a standard fixed amount for anyone or the amount calculated for me given my circumstances?

I seem to recall this is the amount of JSA you get so I assume it is a 'set' applicable amount.

It's a figure based on your age, housing need, income. So it's just coincidence in your case.

You can check the maximum HB you can get on the LHA direct website. It will depend on age, health, dependents. You can model your full benefit entitlements on the Turn2us online benefit calculator.

The applicable amount is set at the amount of means tested benefits you would receive. At that amount of benefit (eg JSA) you will receive 100% of your eligible rent for HB purposes. As your income increases beyond that amount your HB reduces by 65p in every extra pound you receive.
