I push the power on button, it attempts to start, then a second later it stops, then re-attempts and keeps going through this cycle until battery removed and power cable removed.
Have tried just using cable, have tried just battery, have also tried holding power button down with no cable and battery in to "disperse power" but all to find it stills does the same cycle.
Any ideas on how I can get it working?

it has been working for over a year with thextra ram in. i have removed both rams and it does the same so doubt just removing one will make any difference. Thanks though. I think it must be a motherboard issue or a dry weld, it is very frustrating though!!!0

the one I was looking at was a Acer 6930 , it had a dryjoint on the power jack , almost no thermal paste (so was overheating and shutting down) as the previously mentioned "I refuse to work with more than 1 stick of ram" , I have come to the conclusion that I would probably not buy an ACER for myselfEx forum ambassador

what kind would you recommend as I will have to now buy a new one.0

think you are asking a "how long is a piece of string" question
I personally like Hp/Compaqs, I fix quite a few laptops and see very few of these with problems and at the moment they are offering a 2 year warranty for free on certain models. They also come with full recovery partitions on the hard disk so if you trash windows its easy to reinstall. Toshibas are good but unless things have changed then you pay extra for recovery CDs , same with Sony's
Dells seem to have gone downhill since they started building them in China.....Ex forum ambassador
