Angry!!

Not really br related but this made me so angry that I have to get it off my chest. Went to pay for some petrol in a small local garage today. Used my debit card which I have done many times before, knew there was money in account as have just been paid and I watch every penny anyway so allways know how much is in account.
Any way the card would not go through. Person on the til very rude saying you must call some one to pay etc etc. I said I am sorry but there must be something wrong wiith your machine I know the card is ok.
Til person just kept saying no its your card. very embarrassing in front of other people.
I then had to wait while she served somone else and guess what their card would not go through either!
They then called the manager who told til operator to scan the card and it worked.
I then left the shop as I was very upset at the way the woman had spoken to me.
I cant stop thinking about it tho, I feel like going back to complain.
Am I making a fuss over nothing?

Yes you are.0 -
I possibly am making a fuss over nothing but the woman was very rude and would not listen to me.
She would not hear of the machine being wrong and just kept saying it was my card which I knew full well it was not.
I will not be going there again.0 -
I am sorry HUAFU, Things like this do happen and the Till operator didn't exactly help.....I think it's because it triggered all your feelings about money and how careful you have been. I would have a cup of tea and take a deep breath. She was rude to you but she won't know all you have been through x
Best wishes

I concour - have a cuppa and don't go back again.
Try looking at it from her POV, she probably gets loads of customers who claim its not their card and its the till etc. It does not excuse the rudness though so I would complain with my feet and give someone else my money.0 -
Thanks, I know it would not matter much to some people, but because I am so carefull about useing my card and always knowing how much is in the account etc I was very upset.
The woman on the til was so rude, but it was funny to see her face when the next persons card didnt go through.
It was so embarrasing tho, as there were lots of people in there. Oh well will go and calm down now.:)0 -
As the person behind you had a problem too and she had to call the manager, she looked the plonker; not you! Which probably would have wound her up a bit more.0

Staff who give attidute P*ss me right off to Freddie, especially when they are wrong.
Its a problem with society today that people think they are right all the time and are too lazy / ignorant to think they are wrong.

I had a similar issue a while ago, a new shop opened up in town and I bought something with my card but they only had a swipe machine which was fine, so I thought.
7 weeks went by and it hadn't come off my account, I kept it on the spreadsheet so there was always enough in the account for it to go through.
I went into the shop and asked about it and she said oh yes! I have been trying to take it the money maybe the account was a bit low and they wouldn't let me take it!!!!!
Well, I huffed and puffed, I know I went all red and hot, and I explained in a very level voice that there was ALWAYS enough in the account as I check it EVERY morning, and keep a spreadsheet of my incomings and outgoings so there was NO WAY that the account was ever low so it wouldn't go through.
Would she have it? would she heck! when putting it through the new pin machine she said this is good because it tells us straight away that the money is there... I said yes I know, but the money has always been there, but she seemed utterly convinced that it was all down to my bad account management and nothing to do with the way they had swiped the card or whatever, short of me taking in statements to prove it there is nothing I can do.
It is frustrating, and annoying, and I think it is more so when you have been BR and are very aware of money that it gets to you. In fact I am feeling all cross about it again now!!
All I will do is not bother shopping there anymore, which is a shame as she has some lovely stuff, but she lost herself a customer that morning.0
