Back then you had tank insulated jackets, not sure many people use a big tank much these day,

Think again , Just had mine swapped for a bigger one .

and I will NOT be getting rid of my hot water tank for a combi anytime soon either!

AND 'combi boilers are the best at heating just the water you need' is an opinion that I do not agree with :-)

We moved our hot water tank into our spare bedroom so that we could use the airing cupboard for a seperate shower. It's the best thing we've ever done! Definitely worthwhile, it's lovely not having to clamber into a bath to have a shower and to have so much more space! We replaced the tank when we did it rather than move the old one as was coming to the end of it's useable life and I do regret being talked into having the same size tank rather than a bigger one by plumber and hubby. Guess who gets left with cold water to wash their hair in on a sunday morning after a bath!

I removed an airing cupboard to extend a bathroom in my last house.

I was easy to do and well worth it for the extra space to get a walk in shower.

If only I could do this with the current house, only I think my son would object to losing some of his bedroom :D

Why not have a shower bath instead of the bath and shower. Then you could have a much larger bathroom rather than cramping everything in.
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
  • I'd prefer a seperate shower, if its not worth it i may as well keep the current layout
