Wee smell in clothes

I need to get the smell of wee out of some clothes. I washed and tumbled dry and them and I am sure they still smell of wee.

Mind you could be that horrible smell that you seem to get from hospitals.

I washed the items at 40 degrees on a fast wash.

Any ideas of what to soak/wash them in to get rid of.

Thanks

Yours

Ask someone else to smell them after they have been washed.Once you have a certain smell up your nose it seems to stick there,so they probably dont stink of wee,you just think they do????

Nappisan or biological washing powder, soak them overnight, then wash and line dry if you can should do the trick.

I would soak them in a solution of white vinegar and water overnight and then wash again - drying in the open air.

Wash them in bicarbonate of soda instead of washing powder and use vinegar as a fabric conditioner. Also do them on a slightly hotter wash if possible.

  • Was it because you left a wash in the wm for a while after it had finished. I have done this a few times!! and the washing smells a bit like cat wee so i know what you mean. I end up having to wash again or put on a rinse cycle with some fabric softener. Its usually okay then.

  • Hi
If you only used a short wash I would rewash on a normal wash with lots of bio powder. I only use short wash for very lightly soiled things if at all ( not much lightly soiled at ours with 2 kids and a mucky dog)

Add half a tub of bicarb of soda to your normal powder in the machine. AND DO not tumble dry the clothes and that will definately work to get rid of the smell. Something about the drier seems to make the smell worse I don't know why. This is what they do in the home my mum is in.
