I work in Morrisons and it used to be that reduced BOGOF'S ended up the customer being in profit but they have changed the system now so that anything reduced is not in the offer.
At our store it often happens just before closing, that food they need to sell before the use by date they will bag up and sell at maybe £1 a bag. I work on checkouts and one man who regularly comes in for late bargains had a trolley load for just under £7 recently. He said a lot of it he would freeze but would throw away what he didn't like.
This is my first post on this board but I have been reading it for a few weeks and am completely addicted. We are trying to live within our means as my husband has recently taken a job with a fairly big pay cut, so I am finding lots of good advice - thank you.0 -
Welcome Kingfisher, I love this board
Thanks Holsale, thats just the sort of info I was after. My store is open 24 hours, I have tried shopping in the evening but the last few days I have shopped in the afternoon and noticed lots of veg bargains, not sure if that is just the fall out from Easter though. I cant seem to get any reduced meat, its always ready meals, and prepacked food that I wouldnt normally buy. I did buy some reduced pizza bases today.
Its my week for bargains, today I was in Instore (used to be Poundstretcher) and got my son a t shirt for £1.50 (half price) and 2 fleece dressing gowns for my daughter one for her current size and one for the next size, both £2.50 each. 5 pairs of pants for £1 for my son and I let them buy a book each for a £1. Also a toy for the camping box, also £1, and a thank you card 40p. I left there very pleased with myself.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
glad i could help tiff!
maybe you could ask one of the employees working in the chiller sections where you can find the reduced meat. it may be in a seperated section.
some stores have about 5 difference reduced food areas whilst some dump it all in either the chiller cabinet or the grocery shelves and let you sort it out for yourself!founder of Frugal Genius UK (Yahoo Groups)0
