Spayed puppy going on to adult food?

  • My 6 month old puppy was spayed 11 days ago, I also cried when leaving her at the vets. Her first day home she was very wobbly and spaced out, on the second day she just wanted to eat, drink and sleep, later that day she was fine in herself though we kept her quiet and someone was with her 24/7 for the first week. She had her stitches out yesterday and she is still having very short walks on her lead, mind you the last few days she has been running round the garden in the snow like a looney! My first dog was also spayed at 6 months and that was in 1991, she lived to 17 with no health or any other problems. Just wanted to give some reassurance that another pup has been fine with being spayed at 6 months, with regards to the food we will stick with puppy food for now as she also has a sensitive tummy.

Obviously it is a personal decision on when/if a pet is spayed.
