Please could someone help laptop was turned off with the on/off button, when I went to turn it on I get window error recovery page and asking to launch startup repair (recommended) after pressing enter I get windows is loading the files, also tried to start windows normally after trying both of these I get the same message which is, a window with system recovery option a big red X the installed program cannot start. Click OK to turn off the computer. Can this be fixed ?

Yes this can be fixed.
you need to put your windows xp cd in the drive.
and go into the windows repair console as suggested in your error messages.
Type
chkdsk /r
let it run and then once its repaired (could take upto an hour)
windows will load fine again.
this is a common problem with windows xp installations.0 -
Thanks for the reply, but its windows vista so can it still be fixed, and does the same apply about the cd, as I dont have one.0
